Education & performance

Samuel earned a degree in music education from Luther College, where he performed with both the Symphony and Chamber Orchestras. He remains an active performer across the Twin Cities and nationally — playing electric violin in a rock band and fiddle in an Irish band. That dual life in classical conservatory and live-band stages gives him a rare ability to meet students wherever their musical interests lie.

Individualized from day one

Samuel builds a unique curriculum for every student based on their skill level, goals, and musical interests. Whether you're working toward classical repertoire or exploring folk, rock, or entirely your own direction, lessons are shaped around what excites you. He emphasizes strong foundational technique and music theory from the start — the building blocks that unlock every style.

Music as social-emotional growth

Samuel is highly skilled in working with children and young people, and approaches youth lessons with an emphasis on social-emotional development — patience, focus, confidence, and collaboration — alongside musical technique. Many parents find his teaching style particularly well-suited to kids who are new to structured learning environments.

It's never too late

Samuel has a genuine enthusiasm for adult students and specializes in helping them develop real music-making skills — whether picking up an instrument for the first time or returning after years away. Lessons move at your pace and focus on the music you actually want to play.

Lessons for every learner

Samuel has formal experience and training in teaching students with a wide range of disabilities. He individualizes both the lesson content and physical technique around each student's unique strengths and needs — ensuring that learning music is accessible, fulfilling, and properly paced for every person.
