Everything a drummer needs

Rudiments & stick control
Single strokes, double strokes, paradiddles, and the essential rudimental vocabulary — the building blocks of everything you'll ever play.
Beat & groove
Rock, funk, blues, jazz, and beyond. Learning to play beats that feel good, not just beats that are technically correct.
Fills & transitions
Moving between sections of a song, building fills that serve the music, and knowing when to play and when to stay out of the way.
Reading drum notation
Understanding drum charts and rhythmic notation so you can learn written music and communicate with other musicians on the bandstand.
Limb independence
Coordinating all four limbs independently — the skill that unlocks complex grooves, polyrhythms, and the freedom to play what you hear.
Playing with others
Dynamics, listening, locking in with a bass player, and the art of supporting a band — what separates good drummers from great ones.

What makes lessons here different

How we teach
01
Music you actually want to play
Lessons are built around real songs and styles. No exercises in a vacuum — everything connects back to music you care about.
02
One-on-one the whole time
Every lesson is private. Your instructor's full attention is on your technique, your timing, and your progress.
03
Progress you can track
Lesson notes live in the student portal after every session so you always know what to focus on between lessons.
Why drums specifically
Every band needs a drummer
Good drummers are always in demand. Once you can hold down a groove, opportunities to play with others open up immediately.
Physical and deeply musical
Drums develop coordination, timing, and musical listening all at once. It's one of the most rewarding instruments to improve on.
Great for all ages
We teach students from age 6 through adults. Kids especially take to drums naturally — the energy is a perfect match.
Drummers who teach. Really.
Our drum instructors are working musicians who bring real-world groove and stage experience into every lesson.

Before you sign up

Do I need a drum kit at home?
Not right away. You can start lessons and practice basic rudiments on a practice pad, which is inexpensive and works great. A full kit or electronic drum set helps as you progress.
How old do students need to be?
We typically start students around age 6. Kids take to drums naturally, and we also love working with adult beginners who've always wanted to play.
Will my neighbors hate me?
Electronic drum kits are a great solution for practicing at home without the volume of an acoustic kit. We can help you find the right practice setup for your situation.
How often do lessons happen?
Most students take weekly lessons. Consistent practice between sessions is especially important with drums — even 15 minutes a day makes a big difference.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Life happens. Get in touch with your instructor as early as possible and we will work with you.
Do I need to learn to read music?
Reading drum notation is a useful skill and we do cover it, but many drummers work primarily by ear. We'll tailor the approach to your goals.
